Not sure what Jim uses but I put a drop of vinyl cement at the base of the wing and squeeze it with pliers to get the fan shape I want before I dub & hackle the thorax. Charlie Craven shows it in his version of John Barr's Viz-a-dun:

I also use a biot body 'cause I like how they look (and I'm a terrible dubber).

Whoops, sorry about that. What exactly is vinyl cement? Is it different from head cement or do you think Sally Hansen's would work? I'm not sure the DTI is high enough to have more glue smells in the condo.
No worries. Sally Hansen's a bit too thin (I'm sure she appreciates hearing that) for this application. I got a tube of vinyl cement at Home Depot; I'm pretty sure you can find something similar at craft stores. Thinned Goop works just fine, too.
