Introduction

Morning All,

I just joined today and thought I'd introduce myself

I'm 50 yrs old and have been a fisherman all my life---however I never mastered flyfishing but have done very well with other methods

Probably 1st question is---why join here then?

Well I'm also an artist (painter) and frequently I paint angling scenes----and often I incorporate Fly fishing as I consider that an art as well

I belong to another fishing site---and had a fly question I asked and most anglers there are spinners and pinners and had a challenge getting an answer with few fly fishers

So if it's ok---I'll watch and hopefully pick up a few tips and enjoy your photos you post and hopefully gain inspiration from some

Bushart

(name is from I used to live in the wilds of northern Canada and the art thing I mentioned)

Eschew the Lodge, especially the lawyers 'mongst the group. Welcome home.

    So, what's your fly question?

    Thanks guys

Don---I'm not sure the meaning of your 1st sentence?

My question I had at the time --was if all terrestrial flies were "dry"?

But I had that one eventually answered and that painting is finished

The Lodge is our off topic section. Kinda warped at times......O.K. it's warped all the time. :)

Are "... all terrestrial flies ... 'dry'?" Well, they immitate terrestrial insects that jump or fall into the water, from River bank, tree limbs, rocks or from the sky. They, like the real insects, will float untill they drown. Some trout like there meals a bit drowned.

    Confused?

    Thanks again all

I'm going to try to show you how it turned out (1st attempt at image posting here)

Normally I paint more serious traditional pieces---once in a while it goes wide----this was one of those times

That's why I titled it "Extraterrestrial"

I asked if those flies were dry----note the water wing:cool:
