The Ocasio-Cortez wing of the Democratic Party thinks its policies are the path to victory in red states. Last night’s results suggest otherwise.
This is probably the most attention that a first term congress person has ever received. Watching you guys go nuts over somebody that will probably not have a single legislative accomplishment is actually quite amusing.

The upper Madison above Ennis lake stays cool and fishes well through the summer for the most part. You may be thinking of the lower Madison below the lake which is often too warm to trout fish by early July.
As a side note, Sheb loves the upper. Three Dollar Bridge is his spot. To be fair it’s a nice river with a lot of really nice fish — famous for a reason — but I dislike it so.
Yeah, I think I was thinking below Ennis Lake. I’ve fished a few times between Quake Lake and down to $3 or so. Way fun and nice fish but “the scene” of it all was a real turn off.

Dry fly purist for the most part these days. I time my fishing around the hatches.
No risers then I'll chuck streamers. Nymphs are a last resort and even then I'm reluctant to tie them on.

If you fish a limestone creek and you see them feeding but they're not rising, try upstream sight nymphing with a PT nymph or cress bug. Very challenging, but very rewarding.

I've done that also...a lot. We have a ton of limestone creeks in the SW part of this state that I fish in the spring and fall every year. One of my favorite memories of doing that I ended up lassoing a trout right around the belly using a double nymph rig of a pink squirrel and a scud.
I saw the trout move and assumed he took one of my nymphs. When I set the hook and pulled him up I realized my leader had actually wrapped around the middle of the fish and my dropper fly somehow hooked on to my leader. Was a 16-17" brown trout.

I’d just go on cloudy days and walk the banks — I knew where a lot of the good ones would feed so if they were up that day I’d cast to them with nymph and sowbug. Sometimes I’d catch, other times they’d spook. Sometimes I wouldn’t see any and I’d just pull a steamer over the cress.
Anyway, I just fish stupid cutthroat these days. That and mountain lakes as I like the walk. Unless I get drug somewhere like the Madison by friends which is fine.
I am camping in the Park for a few days starting tomorrow. Will hike upper Slough meadows a couple days - been up there a couple times already this year and it’s been pretty ok - and I’ll prob walk up to Trout Lake one day.
When I lived in Carlisle 1995-2004 I'd fish the evening hatch on the Letort most late spring and summer days, usually at Trego's meadow, below the duck pond, sometimes below the RR bridge or at Otto's. Usually took two or three on duns one evening then spinners the next in that magic 20 minute window at dusk, then would meet up with a couple of buddies to shoot the breeze.
I don't fish it much anymore since moving an hour+ away. A friend who lives in the stone house just past the small bridge says there's been a lot of poaching the last few years and there aren't as many big fish around. It's still one of the best public access limestone streams in the east, but you do have to know what you're doing. It's tough on beginners.

His trip to Montana coincided with my last trip to Ennis. I think he was fishing the next valley over.
That may be one of the few real perks of being a current or past POTUS.

We had a guide with a boat and fished the 50 mile riffle area. Lot of action.
Also Yellowstone and the Ruby. Got my one an only grayling on the Ruby.
