Chief Justice John Marshall - History class

Learned a lot this semester about the infancy of our government and the impact Marshall had on the future of the three branches of government. My thesis was on the decisions of Marshall allowing for the unfettered growth of a strong central government, which was against the beliefs that Thomas Jefferson and the Democrat-Republicans held.

I can't find much fault in what Marshall decided in most cases, and it's opened my eyes to the debate that still rages today; that of state's rights versus a powerful central government. It's certainly been beneficial to help me understand there is much nuance there and that it's not as simple as the state's rights crowd usually state. I do believe there is a balance, and I still am of the opinion that the scales have tipped too far towards a central government, but maybe not quite as far as I believed before the class.

Education is good.
