guys with beards

Between wrapping up my busy season (that part when weddings, family portraits, and senior portraits all overlap) and taking on a technical consulting gig with my old employer, there hasn't been much time to photograph "for myself" lately.
But yesterday, I volunteered to photograph at our local beard club's competition fundraiser. To be clear, it was assembly line portraiture at it's worst -- about 2 minutes with each subject, in a corner of a casino, with a two-light set up and a reflector.
But the faces were terrific, and I thought I'd share a few faces of the competitors. (Incidentally the group raised more than $3,000 for a local battered women's shelter).

I find the willingness to give it up frightening.
