Gotta Brag A Little

I just finished this winter's project--102 dozen flies. Some of the real pros probably consider that chickenfeed, but for me, it's a milestone.

I would have quit at 100 Dz.

What patterns and what are you going to do with them? Will you fish them all?

I probably did 4 dozen to 5 dozen this winter. Gave most of them to Project Healing Waters through the local Orvis store.

These were mostly streamers (it's Maine, you know) with some dries thrown in for good measure. They're for one of the major fishing camps up here; my partner in crime worked a deal for a number of days' lodging and amenities for four people, plus access to prime water all summer; this was my share. We're tying at another camp for Project Healing Waters sometime in mid-June and hoping to parlay that and whatever into water access also.

Good job.... and congrats on the access.

I tried tying the other day, the stumps I have for fingers still aren't that flexible but they are coming around. I think the right hand fingers are going to be permanently swollen. It will be awhile before I can tie any 16s or smaller. I do have a couple of "Memorial Streamers" to tie, which I can do because they are really large.

I find the willingness to give it up frightening.
