Obama Loves Romney
“Mitt Romney and I ran a long and spirited campaign against one another, but I’ve always believed that when he was governor here in Massachusetts, he did the right thing on health care,” Obama told supporters at the storied Faneuil Hall, where Romney signed Massachusetts’ universal health care measure into law seven years ago. “It’s because you guys had a proven model that we built the Affordable Care Act on this template of proven bipartisan success. Your law was the model for the nation’s law."

blaming? that's rich....
if anything, he's pointing out the blatant hypocrisy and BS machine that is DC right now......here is a plan that was based almost to a T on a plan a GOP darling put into place, one he was lauded by the GOP for.....and the GOP tears the carbon copy apart
the GOP doesn't care about fixing healthcare, getting it right, helping the american people.....they care about making the POTUS look bad to help their election chances....period
that's my take from this......your mileage obviously varies
Looks like hundreds of thousands (millions?) are getting fired by their health plans.
ah
long week......too much world series and trick or treating

What I find interesting is that non-fixed benefit plans (major medical) issued before 2010 were grandfathered in. But then HHS or CMS or whatever issued a ruling that if a plan had a change in deductible or co-pay between 2010 and 2013, it was a new plan and thus not grandfathered in. Hence, the cancellations because companies can't issue any non-fixed benefit plans that don't have the essential benefits.

OMG!
but but but the debt is increasing!!!
Obviously not, otherwise Sebelius' head would have been on a stick as a backdrop to his speech.
Indeed. Ask any Greek or Spaniard how the math works.
also ask them how sequestration was the coup de gras for their economies (along with a slew of other issues)
didn't i read that debt to GDP is actually in decline right now, the deficit is down, federal spending is down, so far inflation is modest......seems like someone is doing something right?
wall street is robust, housing starts were just at a 5 year high......the LEI report will be quite interesting
imho the economy has been one of the few things DC has been doing right recently......controlled spending, reducing the deficit without draconian cuts has resulted in a slow, steady recovery.....
You forgot taxes as a percent of GDP, below average for the last several years due to recession, trending back to average of the last 4 or 5 decades.
Want to drive down tax percent of GDP? Gee, I wanna be Mexico or Turkey, don't you?

LOL. Like defaulting on their debt would have been a growth driver? You must LOVE Ted Cruz.
As for your second point, it may very well be, but what the Republicans (and the Tea Party in particular) are looking at is the projections from the CBO. Those are not pretty with increasing levels of debt relative to GDP driven by our social welfare programs.
"The answer you get is not only how they feel right now, but also how they feel about their entire life," explained Dan Buettner, who has studied happiness and longevity around the world through his Blue Zones project Buettner said that if you mine all the databases of universities and research centers, you'll find that the happiest place on earth is ? Denmark. Cold, dreary, unspectacular Denmark.
Danes do have one potential complaint: high taxes. The happiest people in the world pay some of the highest taxes in the world -- between 50 percent and 70 percent of their incomes. In exchange, the government covers all health care and education, and spends more on children and the elderly than any country in the world per capita. With just 5.5 million people, the system is efficient, and people feel "tryghed" -- the Danish word for "tucked in" -- like a snug child.
...
Those high taxes have another effect. Since a banker can end up taking home as much money as an artist, people don't chose careers based on income or status. "They have this thing called 'Jante-lov,' which essentially says, 'You're no better then anybody else,'" said Buettner. "A garbage man can live in a middle-class neighborhood and hold his head high."
I'd like to be "tryghed" with a Danish model.
Nope. There are no "Danish pastries" in Denmark.
This is a true fact.
Freedom fries, Steven.
Jeez, was that about the dumbest thing ever?
