  I'm lost. Three books say you are to marry your childless, brother's widow and have children with her. Leviticus says marrying your brother's wife is an impurity and you'll remain childless. So, does Leviticus refer to a widow or is it talking about the wife of your living brother?

  The other books refer to a widowed wife and allowing his inheritance line to move forward. Most folks believe Leviticus refers to the wife of your living brother. It also talks about not having sex with her, the root language pointing to a still-living brother.
