  I don't understand hashtagging. Hex, you've hashtagged some unrelated stuff in the two pics you've just tweeted. What is the purpose of hashtagging?

  Hashtagging stuff allows a quicker way to filter for topics. There probably was an Oscars hashtag on Sunday night... So you could have followed it and found all the tweets about the Oscars. Some twitter apps will update the search automatically so you could then watch as people posted stuff only tagged with #oscars.
  
  I think this is where the trends list gets made... Whatever tags get the most posts in a certain time frame get put in the tending list
