I was posted overseas from 1970-1995 and had access to American TV only from 1992 onward. Thus it was a mystery to me why red and blue, the centuries old colors for left and right switched sometime in that period.

    Fascinating stuff. I was only overseas 1992 and 1993 and we had AFRT and AFN. Two channels of seriously eclectic programming to ensure all tastes were accounted for.
    Even then, upon returning to the States it was a bit of culture shock. It’s amazing how things changed so rapidly.
