    When I was in basic for three straight weekends we had dorm liberty.

    I was going to post the cartoon with the dog that says "Kuwait isn't a real deployment" but then I realized I spent nine years in the USAF, which isn't really a branch of the military.

    When I went for my physical we were in a room being briefed on when we were going to be called and some kid walked in the room looking lost. The sergeant asked him if he was looking for the way to the physical. He said yes and the sergeant pointed at the door. The kid walked right past it, the sergeant pointed to it again, kid still missed it, after the 3rd attempt he located the door. Before he went through the sergeant asked, "Army?" The kid said yes and we laughed.

    When I was in basic for three straight weekends we had dorm liberty.

    In 1966 at Fort Ord, I spent nine straight weeks either training or restricted to barracks. Basic training was on a lockdown because of the 'potential' for meningitis (there'd been two cases three years earlier.)
