So secondhand cigarette smoke's not that bad?

Long, but worth a read.

Still, I come down on the rather unscientific side of this one. I don't miss the smell. Even now, you go into some dive casino in some Nevada desert backwater, and the smell about knocks you over. So I'm gonna stick with vaccines=good; secondhand smoke=bad.

    A frighteningly large amount of medical and scientific information is poorly researched and sourced. For instance, for 50 years we had one paradigm of a healthy diet that turned out to be, well, wrong.

    I think the lesson here though is not to turn to armchair experts and alternative facts. I think its probably best to just insist on better data, better models, and better explanations, and to take the opportunity to revise our findings when they are wrong, rather than import them to politics and craft competing narratives around them.

    I have friends and relatives who do medical research. All of them believe that meta studies are horse **** done by people too lazy to do actual research or unable to get funding for it.

    You want your child to become crippled or die, fine. But it could potentially affect my children who HAVE been vaccinated.

    Oh they also don't believe a word the CDC says, because you know, all govt is corrupt and driven by agendas. In a Facebook instant message to Brian D (who saw the posts), he said, "Yeah they have an agenda. To make sure your kids don't die of @##$&;_#@ polio."

    Despise anti vaxxers.

    Second hand smoke leaves scars and I have one to prove it. When I was a tyke my dad flipped a cig out the front window of the car not knowing I had the back window down. Came right back in my lap and burned my leg.

    And to you chewers, quit spitting or quit chewing. I chewed for 30+ years and never spit.

    Be forewarned: secretaries (who hate it regardless of geography and culture) will rat you out to the boss.

    That said, solo cup with napkin is the best, if you can find one. I am the boss so I just get by with a coke can.

    I kid. But, my brother smokes in my truck and I hate it. However all are welcome to put in a fat dip at your leisure.

    My sister and I fighting in the back..no seatbelts.
    Mom driving, smoking a Marlboro with the window barely cracked open.

    Same here. I've never been a smoker, but sometimes on a cold winter day I get a whiff of cigarette smoke and think "Yeah, I can see the appeal of that."
    But then I think of coming home from the bars along time ago and the stink of the clothes the next morning. Gross.

    Thanks to smoking and breathing in second hand smoke my mother is in a nursing home plugged into oxygen 24/7/365 along with a host of steroid drugs taken via a nebulizer for her lungs. A 30 ft. walk and she's out of breath.

    Not sure why anyone would want to take up the habit. I was so glad 7 years ago when WI outlawed smoking in all restuarants, taverns and other public places in this state.
