All on dries (in honor of sherb).
Here's a question: When fishing dries, what would be your percentage of fish brought to hand versus fish raised? I would guess I went somewhere between 1-for-3 and 1-for-4 this weekend, with the other fish either not hooked or LDR'd.

Speaking of little guys, I did send a couple for a ride over my shoulder on the set.
How about a purple prince nymph in his honor???

Is that a Czech nymph rig, southern style?
...........
Shawn, no WY planned this year.... all CO.
Is that an Orvis or Rio strike indicator?
And they ain't strike indicators. They's bobbers. Or corks if you feelin' fancy.

That's what I love about this place. I learn something new every day.
Ok I fish a prince quite often but have never seen this. Anyone ever try one?
Mike
Yes. Good bug.
I'm gonna give you guys all the nymph you ever need. Get a heavy nymph hook like a Mustad 3906B, a tungsten bead, and some flourescent orange thread. Wrap Pheasant tail up the shank. counter-wrap some wire, Tie off with the Orange thread, and create an orange collar. Done.
Or just use peacock herl and florescent orange thread with perhaps a very short fiber florescent yellow or chartreuse marabou collar. Trouts love them glowing thingys.
Best video I've seen on tying the Prince.

Yes, the Purple Haze is my go-to fly up in the Pacific NW. It seems to draw more strikes than other similar flies such as a Parachute Adams. Then again, I think there is a lot to say for having confidence in a particular pattern.
