Doesn't the Quran reference many of the same stories as the Torah or Old Testament?

It was my understanding that Muslims worshipped the same deity as Jews and Christians but some googling revealed much more nuance than I previously thought.
  • Jews and Muslims have the same G-d but different conceptions.
I don't know enough to suggest whether it's the same as the Christian G-d given the Holy Trinity.

Muslims distinctly disavow the Trinity. The Shahada is similar to the Shema.
Shahada: There is one G-d, and that G-d is Allah.
Shema: Here O Israel, the Lord thy G-d, the Lord is One.

    No one took the bait.

Indeed, "Allah" just means "The (One True) God" and is "the God of Abraham". I was reminded of this reading the current National Geographic's article on Mary. It notes that she is the holiest and most revered woman in Islam, and pictures Muslims praying for her intercession at Christian shrines and churches. Jesus, BTW, is revered as the greatest prophet after Mohamed but not as a diety. Many of the Koran's stories echo Biblical ones, often with a twist such as Ishmael being the son Abraham was prepared to sacrifice.
