I don't get why UC Berkeley would do this

Replies

  • I don't know who chooses or how they're reviewed but when I was at Cal each department graduated separately and had it's own ceremony and commencement speaker. For example, the Ivan Boesky "Greed is Good" speech was given at the b-school commencement to the graduates a year ahead of me.

I don't think there's just one commencement speaker although that may have changed.

The whole idea of "commencement" is prejudicial and offensive to the students who did not get certified to commence, Many (most, of course) of whom are minorities. The U should have a non-commencement to honor those who because of inherent bias did not get certified to graduate.

Meanwhile, Bill should head down to UCSB. Everybody will be surfing that day.
