Senior U.S. Intelligence Officials: Russia Was Not Directly Involved, and The Most Likely Explanation Was the Plane Was Shot Down By MISTAKE

Despite the War Drums, There Is No Evidence that Putin Shot Down the Malaysian Airplane Over Ukraine

We’ve previously documented civilian planes have accidentally been shot down by Ukraine, Russia, the U.S., Israel and China, and that the Malaysian plane may have accidentally been shot down over Russia.

The Associated Press confirms this possibility:

Senior U.S. intelligence officials say they have no evidence of direct Russian government involvement in the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.

    ***

A senior official said the most likely explanation was the plane was shot down by mistake.

Indeed, the Russian government claims Ukrainian fighter jets were flying very close to Malaysian Flight 17. While some believe this proves that the Ukrainians shot down the passenger plane, another theory has surfaced: that Ukrainian fighter jets were escorting the Malaysian plane through Ukrainian airspace. If so, whoever shot the plane down might have thought it was a military craft.

In any event – despite the war hawks’ rush to judgment and false leads – no one really knows what happened yet.

Let's not rule out those evil Jews so darn fast.

I would bet the farm Israel snuck in the Mossad to take over and kill the Russians who were really sitting behind the controls but who refused to fire. The Mossad after slitting Vlads best and finest throats hacked the separatists Twitter accounts saying and I quote "Hey Alexi hold my beer...watch this" while they fired an SA-11 missile (the evil Jews had this smuggled into the Ukraine about 5 years ago to frame Vlad).

Once they Mossad shot down the plane they hightailed it back to Israel, snuck into Gaza and stole some rockets from the peace loving innocents who some call Hamas that they launched at Israel just so they could be justified in rolling into Gaza in the worlds eyes.

It was all done as smoke and mirrors to cover their **** in Gaza...oh and I almost forgot...it was also done to make Putin look evil so the west would be justified in more sanctions or possibly using force.

And if you don't buy that...you are a US government stooge!

Soldiers at Ukraine air base given choice to stay or go24 March 2014 Last updated at 20:21 GMT

Ukraine has ordered its armed forces to withdraw from Crimea, following the capture of its last military base on the peninsula.

The Ukrainian air base in Evpatoria was blockaded for three weeks before the Russian flag was raised over the base on Friday.

Military personnel and their families were given a choice - pledge allegiance to Russia, quit the army and stay in Crimea or leave for mainland Ukraine.

They spoke to the BBC about how they came to their decision.

How is this not an invasion?

I believe that about as much as buying the US has a free press, which was about as worthless as buying that "it's One Nation Under God with Equal Justice Under Law"; to which I replied: go try to brainwash someone else.

Ah-ha! SDD has been a government shill all along.

They will find out who is responsable for this slaughter but right now it should be about the 300 victims. Obama needs to remind Putin who has a bigger stick and get in there and bring these innocent people back to ther homes.I would let all involved know that if they don't back off they will see his big stick in a differnt light. This is one time to show them your
s and do the right **** thing and no dam politics this has been a cluster ---.

I'm sorry I voted for Obama and am happy with most of his policy. I beleive 99.9% of the people
around the world would support him in taking a tough stand and most would go KGB all over those resposible if they had lost a love one.I don't think you know about having a big stick.

I am thinking that you are not adequately considering the consequences of our use of force in an already hostile situation. Think about what would have happened if Kennedy listened to his generals and launched an attack on Cuba. Russia still has a significant military and nuclear weapons. Do we really want to go to war with them?

Michael, you seem to have reached a conclusion, what evidence have you seen? I prefer to wait until I see evidence of what actually happened. This is the Russian evidence presented so far. I haven't yet seen the U.S. evidence of what happened. I don't believe either side's conclusions based on circumstantial evidence.

Russia Presents Its Account of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 Crash

Moscow Presents Images It Argues Show Ukraine Fighter Jet or Missiles May Have Been Involved

But he said that Russian radar had spotted a second aircraft in the ill-fated airliner's vicinity just before the crash and that it was likely a Ukrainian fighter jet. A graphic that Gen. Makushev said was based on radar data depicted four commercial planes in the area shortly before the crash, as well as the alleged Ukrainian fighter jet.

Gen. Makushev said that Russian radars could only spot the aircraft at the point of its ascension because the on-duty radars only detected objects at above 5,000 meters. Russian radars spotted the unidentified plane patrolling in the vicinity of Flight 17, "controlling the development of the situation," he said.

The defense ministry also said it registered the Su-25 fighter jet ascending within close range of several civil aircrafts, including the Malaysia Airlines jet.

Another top military official, Lt. Gen. Andrei Kartapolov, said at the same news conference that the jet came as close as 1.8 miles to Flight 17, which is well within the range of the air-to-air missiles it is usually equipped with.

He said Russia is prepared to hand all of the information it has to the European authorities, which included satellite imagery and data from its own radar.

Russian defense ministry officials also claimed that a U.S. satellite was spotted at the time of the Flight 17 crash and asked that the U.S. release the satellite images from that time. The U.S. didn't immediately comment on the claim.

So you seem to be favoring the Russian account. How can you for even one minute when they said in a statement (I think the second or third one), that is was shot down by a Ukrainian fighter (air to ground) that can't shoot the commercial jet down because of armament and it's ceiling. I believe the next official Russian statement said that the fighter jet shot it down on the orders of the U.S. It seems their version changes every hour. Why would you give any credence to official Russian statements at all?

btw I've seen some of the released satellite images. Why haven't you? Why do you ignore that the leader of the "separatist" is a Russian (born) military intelligence officer. Doesn't that stop you for a moment to think?
