my friend Tom

Pictures from a session last week with my friend Tom Gnoza. Tom's been playing music professionally for almost his whole adult life -- his band was part of the emerging Seattle grunge scene and played opening sets for the precursors of Pearl Jam and Nirvana...I really enjoy the chance to hang around with people who are so full of stories and so completely devoted to their art.

btw, here's a very amateur video that Tom and a bunch of his friends made (I think he had more people in the audience with video cameras than with drinks in their hands):

if you know where to look, you can even see the back of my head as I'm snapping a photo, and much of the sharper footage (including a 1/4 mi backwards walk while he and the band head from one bar to another) is stuff I shot.

his voice is pretty hard to miss.
