.....from facebook for three days.

Believe it or not, for posting this photo I did at the request of a client:

(explictly allowed by Facebook's policies, btw -- but some azzhat reported it as pornographic, full nudity, and graphically violent).

it's a shame, because now I have to wait three days to post these from my shoot last night, which won't raise a single eyebrow!

Do you know who complained? Is it someone that you're facebook friends with?

It's not my eyebrow that's raising.

    (Get it? because sexy).

no, we think it's a "friend" of the mom in the photo, who tweeted some nasty stuff about the photo shortly before it was reported. Not a friend of mine but because the photo was set to display publicly, he saw it anyway -- and clearly reported out of malice, considering he reported it 3 or 4 times, each time with a different "reason" for why it was inappropriate.

btw, on the other photos -- pretty good for 47 years old and three kids, huh?

she doesn't share any of the photos that identify her (other than with her boyfriend), but doesn't mind if I share the ones that are "just parts" -- she uses our shoots (this is our fourth) as motivation for the gym -- sets a date months ahead and starts texting me photo ideas a few weeks out. Always a fun session working w/ her.

So facebook doesn't let you know your accuser?

On facebook, you mentioned that you were given a timeout for three days while they investigate, does that mean more punishment could come, or is this the unofficial punishment? I find it kind of fascinating that with the millions and millions of people that use facebook, that there's actually a team of people that are looking into whether a breastfeeding mom is pornography.

nope, FB doesn't provide info on the accuser, just what you're accused of.

They provide limited appeal and feedback opportunities, though I guess there are additional options IF I were to get permanently banned. That is a possibility but remote, since I was able to cite to them the specific link to their own policy stating that breastfeeding photos ARE allowed within reason.

I think that because of the millions of users, they essentially block the user by default, until someone can investigate. I suspect that most blocks are not challenged, since there's limited opportunity to do so. It provides an avenue for major mischief on the part of users.

If I knew for certain who it was, I'd love to dangle the threat of a civil suit over his head. I am NOT one who likes to use the courts to settle disputes but Facebook is the major route through which I get business, and with more than 2,400 fans (between my personal and business profiles) I can claim some serious reputation damage.

though in the end, I will admit -- it's made me something of a martyr among the moms in my network.
  • Now, I'm serious about this. From a business perspective, probably the best thing you could do is get into contact with La Leche League.

Yet they still banned you. I hope you get this straightened out, bad call for sure.

uh, yeah, not by my choice (the heat in my studio is horrible) but we were making jokes about that all night.

beat the hell out of last time, when we had to employ the old ice cube trick.

The tie photo has to be... Hochee momma.... One of the sexiest photos I've ever seen. Truly the old less is more!

FB's eff up is the Lodge's gain. I really like the contrast/leg shot.

Yeah, double windsors are pretty cool.

I have never figured out the American public's revulsion of breastfeeding. Mom's happy, the kid's happy and certainly not about to cry, mom's apparently building resistance to certain types of cancers, and if you don't like it, don't look! I'm with Steven--the La Leche League would probably come down on them like ugly on an ape.

I saw some of the postings about it on Facebook. Very childish.

And like you hinted at, this will probably be a good thing for you. No such thing as bad publicity and all that.

And wow. She cannot be 47. Un-freaking-believeable.

    Scott,
I am always impressed with you pictures. However, as the second picture shows your cropping abilities are freaking awful...please work on that. ;)

    Oh I cropped it right

You guys just ain't gonna see that version.

Scott, I called Zuck, and he pretended he didn't know me, you or this whole breastfeeding picture fiasco.

There is a conspiracy going on. I am pretty sure only Ed B. can get to the bottom of it.

Help us Ed B, you are our only hope.
