was never a huge Zappa fan -- I guess some of his stuff was over my head -- but over time I've come to appreciate him more and more.

I was introduced to Zappa at a fairly young age (15) by my best friends older brother. He took my friend an I to a Zappa show at the old Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. The Guthrie was as close to acoustically perfect a place if there ever was one. It was built for plays and only held something like a 1000 people at most, very intimate.

This was in 73 I think - I've been a fan ever since

Both places I saw Zappa the acoustics were optimal not stadiums. His jazz rock fusion was way less pretentious than Carlos Santana and John McL.

Carlos was triply butnot as good as Zappa.
