    Now, for the other side of the story. The Israeli press claimed the Captain was intoxicated at the time, but this was widely debunked in the American press.

    BUT. . .

    I heard from a guy who was there (my Platoon Sergeant) that he was in fact drunk.

    Well I can say from experience there are few things scarier than a drunk marine.

    I have a friend that was there in that period. A lesson I learned, never say anything nice about the Lebanese around him.
