I just purchased the Fishpond Road Trip Fly-Tying Bag. It has all the compartments to store tools and materials to tie on the fly "pun intended". I plan to use it on trips at times. It has all the things I need to tie anywhere but one thing. I'm not sure how or where to mount my vice. If I am in my truck, how would you find a way to mount the vice so that you can tie? I have a Renzetti traveler. Any creative ideas for different situations?

Do you have a pedestal or clamp system? I suggest you get a clamp. Then you can attach it to desks or even tree branches.
For travel, I suggest you make a little tying table. This is basically a board about 8" x 12" "or larger" with some non-slip feet. Presuming you are right-handed, create a little 'bridge' on the left end. This bridge is about 1 inch off the top of the board and at least as wide as your clamp. Clamp the clamp onto the bridge upside-down, on the inside of the bridge with the knurled screw/bolt toward the outside and the hole for the post of the vise on the inside. Insert your vise post into the clamp.
Here is a pic of a 'bridge', but it doesn't have to be that high if you turn your clamp upside-down.The back of the base could have another bar with holes for tools or posts for thread if you wanted to be fancy. Then you can tie on your lap anywhere.
Or buy one of these. My suggestion is similar, but with the 'bridge' on the left you can use your clamp.

We just clamp the vise to the steering wheel and put a plastic bag on your lap to catch the junk.
I have found the PEAK clamp to be useful "on the road."

Happy hunting, Mick
Had a clamp on my Traveller for years; was never thrilled with trying to attach it to my truck's steering wheel and found that most hotels I stayed at had tying-unfriendly bevels on tables/nightstands. Bought a pedestal and sunshine returned to my life. All I need is a flat surface "clipboard, cutting board, scrap piece of MDF, etc" to put on my lap and I'm good to go.
