Following on from the photos of the Clippered Emerger I posted yesterday, I think these may help to show the hackling and their footprint:

The wing is not TMC Aerodry here "as with the first photo" but Zelon. Mucillin on the hackle "which is curled upwards to helps it sit softly on the surface film"...

dave those are great pics. its very helpful to see how a fly actually sits in the surface. i was even going to ask yesterday if you would take pic from overhead to see what was going on with the hackle. you've gone above and beyond. this really is a nice pattern. very midgy!
