    I read that he had 10 guns in his room in the hotel. (Oops "Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock had 23 guns in his hotel room. AP") I wonder if there are some rules about that. There will be lawsuits.

    You're wrong as usual. In this case, as with most crazies, the bad stopped himself with gun. But only because the good guys with guns were coming for him.

    That's quite the logic you've got movin there...Wrong as usual??

    Your reasoning would only make sense if he off'd himself with his gun prior to opening up on 1000's of innocent people from a vantage point nobody could easily take him down

    Tell yourself whatever you have to I guess to keep the status quo and just wait for the next time

    There is likely some crazy here.

    Story in WSJ says Paddock's father was arrested after he robbed a bank. There was a shoot out and the father surrendered and was arrested after the FBI shot out his windows. The FBI described him as a psychopath with suicidal tendencies.

    Paddock's mom moved the family from Tucson to California and it's likely Paddock never saw his father again. In fact, he and his three brothers thought their father was dead until it was reported that he escaped from prison (he was recaptured).

    It seems the family splintered and the brothers really don't talk to each other. Paddock apparently has some strange habits like always wearing gloves, constantly moving, and never opening the shades in any of his houses.

    While not all of then problem, they are kind of a contributor to mass shootings. Its like saying solar radiation didn't contribute to one's sun burn.

    Here is my proposal (it will never ever happen): Outlaw the sale and possession of any semi-automatic weapon. They are good for only two things, killing people and target shooting. Your right to sport a chubby while shooting vast quantities of lead into a hillside is in no way supersedes Citizen X's right to live life with getting mowed down in public.

    The NRA fought background checks. So NK does not need to pass one and since the NRA has no issue with straw purchases, there is no issue with NK selling nukes to ISIS.

    Seriously though, a person is going to have a tough time modifying a bolt-action rifle to fire full auto using their belt buckle and a shoe lace. And if you want to protect yourself carry a revolver.

    I know you think I'm being ridiculous but this is a compromise. If I were king for a day I'd confiscate everything that isn't a hunting rifle or breech loading shotgun and melt them all down. All handguns and semi-autos into the blast furnace!
