The next big thing ?

Funny how things come full circle for me

started with a small glass rod , went to boo then graphite, moderate rods, super long rods for czech, Tenkara and spey and now heading back towards the light and small glass rods....

And while I may wear that Dry Fly or Die hat just some times I`ll be swinging a soft hackle ;)

What says you ?

Got a couple little glass rods on my building table right now!
There is a time and place for all of our rods ... I happen to like glass for most of them. And soft hackles!
Lord ... give me patience, and give it to me RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Soft hackles are under rated. Its one of the most productive methods when there is ongoing insect activity.
  • I haven't tried tenkara. I'd like to though.

sherb, try it before you get much invested in it. It's certainly not intended for big waters or big fish.

Sherb, the hardest thing about Tenkara is when big fish run , I bought the largest rod that Tenkara USA makes and have a fair amount of times had my tippet POP because of a pig , Back east we seem to have an better option of seeing smaller fish than you , but then again POP ;)
I swing wets and soft hackles more than dries with this rod... Plus for under a couple hundred dollars your in and running.

The new glass rods I have examined feel a lot like my old (unsanded) Superfines. The one glass rod I fish with is a 5' 4wt built on a spinning blank.
