"Moderate alcohol consumption may be vital in helping people live past the age of 90, new research suggests.

The average lifespan has steadily increased due to advancements in technology and medicine, among other facets of life. The newly published 90+ Study — which first launched in 2003 by researchers at the (UCI) — claimed that individuals who drank approximately two glasses of beer and wine daily were 18 percent less likely to be subjected to a premature death. People who exercised between 15 to 45 minutes a day reduced this risk by 11 percent, however."

    A couple of years ago, I was traveling with the then CEO of Reinsurance Group of America. It's one of the top 3 life reinsurance companies in the world. As such, it has nearly an unrivaled view of mortality trends and causes world wide.

    The CEO told me that alcohol consumption (scotch, bourbon, vodka, wine, beer - it didn't matter) is absolutely positive correlated with longevity. The more, the better...up until you trip the line into drinking so much that it causes cirrhosis of the liver or other alcohol related diseases.

    Alcohol is a bloodthinner, thus helping to prevent strokes. It's probably what's keeping me alive with my atrial fibrilation. I enjoy good bourbon and vodka in moderation (most of the time).

    I know. I can fall asleep in five seconds, staying asleep is another matter. I take drugs (Doxepin-sp) for that. They usually work, but I never get more than six hours when I take it...two or three when I don't. fun, fun, fun.

    Maybe When I wake up and can't get back to sleep I should have a couple shots...haha

    edit. I've heard for years that this was a truth, but now they have "proof" 90 proof.

    Yeah, I've tried it myself but it doesn't really do the trick. I usually just want coffee if I wake up that early.
